On behalf of the Board of Council of Gambler’s Help Services, the Council Executive is pleased to deliver this Annual Report, for the period 2007-08. As is evident from the report, the past year would be well described as a year of transition and re-formation for the Council, and for the wider Gambler’s Help network.
Within this twelve-month period, the Council has seen the appointment and departure of Executive Officer, Wendy Sengotta, and the departure of Policy Officer, Lynda Memery. At the level of the individual services, the network has seen further significant transitions, with a change of auspice agencies in four rural Gambler’s Help regions and a significantly changed contract with many new service elements. As at June 30, the Council itself faces the critical task of negotiating its own ongoing funding contract.
Amidst these changes, the Council has worked diligently to maintain stability across the network. In particular, Wendy Sengotta invested many hours supporting staff impacted by funding changes, including those leaving the network, and those arriving into the network.
The Council has continued to strive for the provision of support to its member agencies, in the interest of high quality service provision to those impacted by problem gambling.
The Executive wishes to express its gratitude to Wendy Sengotta, for her contribution to the Council of Gambler’s Help Services through the course of the financial year. We also wish to thank Lynda Memery, for her outstanding contribution toward a coherent and robust policy framework for the Council.
The coming twelve months represents an exciting period of growth and consolidation for the Council and the broader network. The Executive looks forward to the role it can play in supporting the implementation of many new service enhancements, and consolidating the position of the Council.
